Missing Mom- Year Eight

It has been eight years since my Mom passed away. I miss her a lot.

Christmas 2002

I always felt lucky to even have a Mom. When I was two, she had a brain aneurism that nearly killed her. Lucky for us, they caught it in time. They performed emergency surgery and clamped the artery in time. One of the challenges after surgery was that she had quite a bit of memory loss and had to relearn how to read and write. As therapy, Mom began to write poetry and children's stories.

After years of rejection, she was published in Summer Weekly Reader. It was quite a thrill for us and she continued her writing for many years. She had close to a hundred poems and stories published over the years.

Here is one of my favorites. Bentley Bentail was written about a cat that had a bent tail.  Most all her stories had morals and taught us to be kind to those that may be a little different.

Peace and Love!
